Isn’t she the cutest thing you ever saw? Kim and I sure make good looking kids.

As most of you know, I turned thirty a few weeks ago, joy of joys. The funny thing about being thirty is that it doesn’t feel that much different than fifteen, except I’m fifteen years closer to dying. The real reason for this post is to inform you of my two favorite birthday presents, Coke and Sweetarts.
A few weeks before my birthday, Emma had been talking about having her mom take her to CVS to get a special birthday present with her own money. She even ended up hinting to me on a few occasions that she was going to get me gum, another one of my favorites. On the big day, she ended up getting me a 2-liter bottle of Coke, which I am addicted to.
I ended up working on my birthday, a Thursday, so I could take the next day off. When I got home from work, Abby was running around with a roll of Sweetarts that she proudly proclaimed was my birthday gift. I reminded her to hide the candy, so I wouldn’t see my present until my party and she ended up putting it in the pocket of her coveralls. After a while, she came to tell me that the roll of Sweetarts had broken in half, and I again reminded her to put them in a safe place. I’m not exactly sure where she put them, but later, I ended up finding her eating some of the Sweetarts . I guess the temptation was too much for her. I couldn’t help but laugh at the broken, half-eaten Sweetarts she finally presented to me during my party.
I couldn’t have asked for better birthday presents.
With the new year we moved from late afternoon church to early morning church which means that now we get up long before I would like to on a Sunday morning, but we now have the possibility of a nap. I can count on one hand the number of naps that I’ve had in the past year, so the possibility of a nap was appealing that was until I remembered that Emma and Abby don’t take naps except in the car and then only if the planets are aligned.
The first Sunday, we told the girls that they would be taking a nap and we put them in their room while Kim and I tried to nap. That ended with me in the girls room after a half hour to make sure they stayed in their beds while Kim and Lily napped. This past Sunday Kim had a better idea.
The idea turned out to be that we would put up the baby gate in the hallway blocking the doors to our and Lily’s room. In theory, this should have been a good idea, but most of you know our girls and can see where this story is heading. We though that they would be occupied with a movie in one room and a computer game in the other, but we failed to take into consideration that the placement of the baby gate gave them free rein of the rest of the house.
I awoke from the nap to find Abby in our room (she had climbed over the baby gate), the entry way and part of the hallway were all wet (we left the mop bucket full of water and the mop out), comet bathroom cleaner all over the tub (they day before Abby really wanted to help clean the bathroom), a carton of half eaten and half melted ice cream in front of the TV along with two small tupperware containers with spoons (they had pushed a chair over to the freezer, but neglected to push a chair over to the cupboard where we have the bowls), and popcorn kernels all over the place (we had given them popcorn to eat with the movie).
I suppose I will be able to count on one hand the number of times I will be getting a nap this year.
I am testing out a new web host, and long with the hosting change I’ve decided to change the domain name of the site. The new domain name is moorefamilyhappenings.com (or www.moorefamilyhappenings.com if you like) which means that our family blog and gallery are now located at the address moorefamilyhappenings.com (or www.moorefamilyhappenings.com). The old domain moorcito.com now exists as what’s called a redirect which means that if you type moorcito.com (or www.moorcito.com) into the address bar of your web browser you will automatically be redirected to moorefamilyhappenings.com, the new site.
What does this mean to you? In a nutshell, forget about moorcito.com and remember moorefamilyhappenings.com. Update your bookmarks/links and tell all of your friends and family to go to moorefamilyhappenings.com if they want to see what we are up to.
Along with the domain name change, and hosting change, I also upgraded the software that powers the photo gallery. If the new gallery takes a while to load the pages, just be patient. The new software creates gallery thumbnails the first time a gallery is viewed, so most of the old galleries won’t have their thumbnails created just yet. The good news is that is only takes 10 seconds or so to create the thumbnails on any given page, so you will be viewing in now time. I’m also working on the look of the gallery and customizing it a bit more, so again be patient.
We got a new camera a few weeks ago, so we were able to take a bunch of pictures. I uploaded a couple of hundred new pictures today. This camera is so much nicer than our old crappy one.
